Stopped working. Reinstalled drivers. Initially thought this was the problem - as which driver is not clear as the printer is so old. (Laserjet 1010HB. Or an alternative!) Now I keep getting Access is denied when I try to print a test page or make any changes. The same thing come up when I try to alter properties of other drivers (e.g. Print to pdf).

I've tried to install my daughter's Brother and get the same thing. I've tried to do the same as Administrator. Totally lost to the point of thinking to buy a new printer (LJ 1010 has served me well.) but I get the idea it's something within windows stopping me installing new drivers. Hi John, This issue might occur due to following below reasons. • Missing/corrupted printer components. • Printer drivers not compatible with the OS installed. • Printer spooler Stopped and set as Manual. I would suggest you to run “ Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue. Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter: • Right click on the start button. • Click Control Panel.

• Select “ Hardware and sound”. • Next select Devices and printers.

• Right click on the device or printers which you need to troubleshoot and select troubleshoot and follow the onscreen instruction. Also refer to the suggestions provided by the from the below link. For reference: How to: Install and Update drivers in Windows 10 Thanks & regards.

Mohammed Ali. Hi, thanks for the help. I'm despairing yet further. Asmedia Usb3 0 Controller Driver Windows 10. I believe I've followed all suggestions from here and from searching the web.

This now includes using another printer. See below as I'm now trying to keep a log of what I have done.

• Checked windows update – all up to date. • Followed instructions for error ‘The stub received bad data’ during installation Sfc/scannow DISM.exec /online/cleanup-image/scanhealth DISM.exec /online/cleanup-image/restorehealth • When I try to print I get The Laserjet 1010 HB printer driver is not installed. I then follow the installation procedure pointing at the downloaded driver from HP (i.e. Option Have Disc.) All seems well until I get to print test page. ‘Test page failed to print’. • Run printer diagnostic10.diagcab from Microsoft.

Whether looking at printer / network /or hardware etc., no problem found. • Right click on printer properties produces ‘Printer driver is not installed.’ and round we go again. NB This is the same for OneNote, but not fax etc. • I’ve tried stopping the spooler and restarting. (Can’t remember now where that came in and removing drivers although) • Remove device and try the simple approach of switching it off and back on. It goes through the automatic process of installing.

But then it is again not found • I have now taken a Brother HL2035 printer. Following the instructions from Brother have installed the drivers and have exactly the same problem. I have spoke to Brother and they assure me that driver 2030 series is correct I am happy to go out and buy a new printer but not if it’s something in Windows stopping it all working! I should add that I have also tried to install as administrator, thinking there may be some problem with my profile. Exactly the same issues (both Brother and HP printer.).
