About an hour ago I excitedly booted my PC to install my new Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. And I'm having bulk issues--So I'm going to bulk ramble the things I've tried so far; Firstly, I cannot get the driver to install correctly. I only have the latest driver, as no CD came with the device. The device is supposedly brand new.

No matter how I've gone about trying to install the driver, it has no errors, but the device just cycles the USB light and Gain LED's. If I run the Focusrite software, it tells me there is no recognised device plugged in. Going into Device Manager without the driver installed shows 'Scarlett 2i2' with no drivers. It wont recognise any driver, even searching in the Focusrite Programs folder. So I cannot install it this way. If I install the driver with the 2.5.1 Installer, and plug the Scarlett in, it doesn't even appear in Device Manager.

It just cycles and flashes all its lights. I've tried the installer with administrator privlidges, in compatibility mode, installing, rebooting, then plugging the Scarlett in. Nothing has worked. Also, very oddly, if the device is plugged into my PC before the PC is powered on, it will stall out booting indefinitely. I have a ASUS RoG Mobo, and it will just stay on the RoG screen without ever posting beyond that.

If I unplug the Scarlett while it's frozen on posting, it makes no difference until I do a power cycle. With the device unplugged, the PC boots to Windows logon in, I dunno, ~20 seconds. Can someone send me in a direction where I might be able to get this damn thing to work? I'm upgrading from a 12 year old MobilePre USB because I'm sick of Windows throwing up errors about it. Edit: so this thing is a cunty piece of shit. I have got it working on the spare USB extension from my pc keyboard. It won't work any other way.

Then, when it is working, itmixes both tracks into stereo, with no settings to adjust it. Like, literally no settings. I have managed to find an asio build of audacity that is finally getting this heap of shit on par with a 12 year old device. But I don't want to keep it plugged into my keyboard, that is just fucking stupid.

I think I'll return it.
