Kobo Windows 10 Driver

Kobo Windows 10 Driver

Hi, I have a problem: after I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 my Kobo devices don't show up in Windows explorer (also my android ereader Boyue has the same problem). I checked that the usb connection works because Windows recognices my usb memory stick. What should I do? Is there somethere a Windows 10 usb driver for Kobo devices I could install?

You might want to try removing the Kobo and other devices from device manager and then reconnecting them. Easiest way is to use Nirsoft's USBDeview. My preferred alternative is the batch file attached to this message. Copy the file inside the.zip file (showhiddendevices.cmd) to your desktop, right click and run as administrator, select show hidden devices from the View menu. Look for Kobo devices under the Portable Devices item. Remove any greyed out items under that item and then any greyed out items (USB Mass Storage Device for example) under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers item.

The problem is that there are no traces of Kobo driver in my system. I did a clean install of Windows 10 and every time I connect my Kobo H20 to laptop it says 'Computer detected. Would you like to connect.' And after pressing the Connect-button it says 'Connected and charging' but nothing shows in my laptop, not in device manager (with show hidden devices option on) or in USBDeview.

Does the last item in your image -- the USB composite device from an unknown manufacturer -- disappear from device manager when you disconnect your Kobo? If so, I'd remove it with your Kobo disconnected. This might or might not be related to the difficulty described here, but I've had mysterious standard usb devices not working on windows before where the problem was unresponsive Windows update server. That doesn't make much sense, but when Windows detects a new device, (or an old device in a different port.) by default, it tries to check against Windows update database for a new Driver. Most of the time, this is transaparently quick, and as the device is standard, nothing needs to be downloaded, and Windows just adds the device.

I have seen cases where this check gets stuck, and even rebooting the computer doesn't necessarily 'unstick it.' Windows will just refuse to finish adding the device until the process completes.

Hi regarding this problem, I realized that I had set up my wi-fi network as mettered. It is possible that for some of you that worked 'magically' is because you connected the reader somewhere else than home and windows got to download the necessary drivers for it show in your file explorer.

Afterwards it was probably ok since the correct installation took place. Make sure your connection is NOT mettered in the advance properties for each SSID name.

Once you remove this setting, it will install ok. I have to set my connection mettered because I have a limited amount of traffic at home and I don't windows downloading all the updates at home but anywhere else. But I realized that this will affect installing new hardware as well. Hope this helps.

I had this problem, first it was working fine, then i got: ur device is connected and charging, but it didnt show up as a device. Well, i tried many things, including 3 different usb-cables. Then i found the original cable (u call it a Cable in english, srry if not) i got with my kobodevice and then it worked. Makes no sense, havent happend with all other devices i plugged into different things.

But anyway, it solved it. I mean, it didnt even say it is kobos Cable, i just know it because i remember which it was when i saw it.
