The HP doctor software, the basic driver software, and the full version of the software would not install the driver. The software would detect the printer, but the driver would not install.

What I have come to learn is that Microsoft has implemented a policy (2016) that any driver that is not approved by them, Windows 10 WILL NOT INSTALL that driver. What I did not say is that I had to re-install the Windows 10 Operating system on a new hard drive due to the previous hard drive crashing. It was only then that the driver would not installed. The printer driver on the oringinal Windows 10 build on the failed hard drive worked fine. The issue at hand is not the Operating System but is the lack of support and dedication of supporting products that have been out for several years with no notification that HP will no longer support the product in question. At least Microsoft and Apple will inform there customers that on a certain date, these products will no longer be supported.

Its a business. But all I am suggesting is that HP have a little pride for their products and support their costomer base. One thing I do enjoy about Apple products is the level of support and notification they give to there customers. If HP is no longer going to support a product, then I suggest putting a notification on the support page for that product so that the customer knows that this product is no longer being supported. In this particular case, the OEM of the operating system is not to blame. If it wasn't for their notice, I would still be stuck with printer that is non functional because its cheaper to develop a new printer than support an old one.

I spent days trying to get my HP Officejet Pro 8610 working after upgrading to Windows 10, including a lengthy call to an HP rep. Here's what I found out. The printer still works with Windows Vista and 7 - I have HDD's with these operating sytems and when I boot from them the printer works fine. I've also read in several forums it will work with Windows 10 before installing the creators update, though I didn't test this for myself. I did however connect the 8610 to a freinds windows 10 windows 10 PC and it didn't work. All connections were tried: usb, ethernet, and wirelss.

For now please try these steps: • Uninstall the printer from 'programs and features' which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.) • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it.

(Right click on the Windows button to access device manager) • Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top. • Click on print server properties.

• You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any. • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers. • Restart the PC. • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box, • Type%temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button. • It would bring up the temporary files folder.

Please note, those drivers were issued Nov. 13, 2015 - well before Win 10 creators update. I have installed and uninstalled them several times now.

Both on my own, with some fix tool I was prompted to download by HP, and with one of your phone reps. These drivers were tried not only with these three different guides, but also multiple times with each type of connection (USB, ethernet, wireless).

I could try following the steps you recommend, however I've already spent literally dozens of hours on this and don't want lose more time. They also look like the steps one of your HP reps performed while they had remote control of my computer. Is it not possible HP needs to update their drivers???? I don't see why a freshly installed Win 10 should require so many steps to get a printer working. All of my other hardware works with Windows 10 creators update once drivers were updated - 7 year old keyboard, 5yr old webcam, 8 year old gaming mouse.
